The Vision

'Then the lord answered me and said:

“Write the vision and make it plain on tablets.  That he may run who reads it.  For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak and it will not lie.  Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come.  It will not tarry.”' Habakkuk 2:2-3

When God speaks, He does not lie… As long as we are obedient to the call, He will not let you be put to shame.

Pastor Fiona writes...

I was first given an insight into what I was called to do in the year 2001.  I had given myself to the Lord Jesus the previous year, around April 2000 after living years in a traumatic situation and after having many dreams and visions I experienced the love and revelation of Jesus Christ whilst walking down the street.  To date, I have never looked back since that day.  I call it the 'road to Damascus experience'

After receiving the baptism of Holy Spirit in 2001 there became a manifestation of gifts that began to stir up within me.  Firstly I began to write my first book in the summer of 2001 (From Darkness to Light) and then set up my first ministry that September called 'God’s Living Word Children's Ministry' which was a mobile children’s choir that went around singing at homes for the elderly and also at the Arthur Rank Hospice for those dying of cancer.  The children loved being a part of the choir and the people that they ministered to were truly blessed.  By January 2002 this ministry turned into a Saturday school for the children and we had fun. During that time I then began opening my home up to have bible studies on a Friday evening for adults and many came to the Lord.  It was at this time when I had the revelation that God was calling me to set something up, bigger than I had imagined.  The Lord would lead me to get a pen and paper out so that I could write down the things that he was about to tell me.  “Ministry of Ministries” was one of the first things I wrote down along with the words 'Streams of Living Waters.'  I was not quite sure what this meant and did not know that God was actually saying to me that he was calling me to set this up.  Looking back I realise that my training came through the things that God had led me to do in the community (Explained in my next book, to be published).

This vision was soon confirmed by a Pastor from the Church I was now attending.  He said God had called me to set something up and that he would use my hands to tell me what He wanted me to do. This is exactly what happened. Along with speaking to me through visions, His word and hearing Him speak, He led me to write the vision so that those who read it will run with it if they are to be a part of it.

This Pastor also told me that God had given me two bags with lots of seeds in for me to go and plant.  The bags were not quite full yet but they would be full in the future when I am ready.  He further said I was going to be like Abraham and said that something was going to start right here, (in my house as that was where we were at that time having a bible study).  Soon my calling was also confirmed through another lady who did not know me. I was at church standing at the altar and she spoke softly into my ear.  “I can see ministries written all over you.  You are going to give birth to them. You are going to be a spiritual mother to many,” she told me.  She then laid her hand on my stomach and prayed for me.  The word of God was confirmed...

As time went on, my role in the vision began to unfold.  I could see a vision of a jigsaw puzzle and my job was to ensure that every piece of the puzzle fitted together in the right place.  Then bit by bit the vision then began to unfold on paper.  God was going to do a new thing.  The vision was not going to be birthed through another church/ministry, it was going to be birthed as a new vision.  The aim of the vision was to reach out to the broken, the lonely, the spiritually bound and those on the fringe of society to build them up so that they could then fulfil their God given calling through discipleship.  This would mean setting up a teaching school. Within this the aim is to also bring unity between cultures and class statuses.

‘There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus’ - Galatians 3:28.

I was then given the words - apostolic anointing, united nations.  I did not know what apostolic anointing meant at that time as I was only four years in the Lord.  I did however know that united nations was to be part of the name of the ministry.

By 2004 it was clear to me what God had called me to do but never did I believe that He was calling me to head it until later on.

I have walked closely with God and have stepped out in faith according to what I believe God has told me to do. Each step that I have taken has been with the confirmation of others and God has sent the appropriate people in place at the appropriate and appointed time.  I believe that He will do this throughout the setting up of the ministry and as I grow, the ministry will grow.

I am a mother of six adult children and have experienced many distressing situations, such as domestic violence, inequality, rejection, loneliness, and spiritual bondage.  These are only some of them, the rest are written in my book From Darkness to Light. These situations have shaped me and given me an insight into a world of nothingness and solitude.  I thank the Lord Jesus for delivering me from these distressing situations and I am thankful that He can now use me to help those who are experiencing or have experienced what I have been through.  He has made me whole again (see my book From Darkness to Light).  If God can use me at a time when I was a single mother of six young children, He can use you too! From Darkness to Light

The set up

The Church of United Nations is not just about having a Church service on a Sunday morning and a mid-week bible study although at present this is how it is.  There will be a network of people culminated together to bring in those on the fringe of society and equip each person through a schooling system.  A building will be needed along with different projects planted within the community in order to do this.  We are to be a voice for the people and to be influential in politics.

The Mandate

In around 2002, I was sitting on my bed whilst talking with a friend when suddenly I felt something deposited in my spirit and the words Joseph and the multi coloured coat came to mind.  I then thought the words multi-gifted.  It was not until later on that I knew the importance of this experience.  The Holy Spirit had deposited gifts within me to enable me to set up and function in the giftings of the five fold ministry according to Ephesians 4:11 "So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers" and Ephesians 4:8 "This is why it says: "When he ascended on high, he took many captives and gave gifts to his people." This was because God was going to send the broken and spiritually poor to receive salvation and to be restored to The Church of United Nations,  1 Samuel 22:1-2, "David left Gath and escaped to the cave of Adullam. When his brothers and his father’s household heard about it, they went down to him there. All those who were in distress or in debt or discontented gathered around him, and he became their commander. About four hundred men were with him."  This is exactly what has happened. The ministry began with myself as the only established Christian who had been healed and delivered along with those who were in a not so good place and spiritually poor.

House Church

In 2006, the Church of United Nations began in my home.  This happened shortly after I met my Pastor, Ivan John, from Guyana, who has sadly passed away March 2017.  God has now given me a new mentor Apostle Blair of ###.  The word that the previous Pastor had given about the ministry starting in my home had come to past. Although I did not realise this until it was in place.  I had met my Pastor at a time when I was prompted by God to leave the Church I had been attending for four years.  I was not happy there, no one believed in my calling or vision.  I was empty and desperate to be a part of something but when I left that Church (on the directions of the Holy Spirit) the Lord was not placing me anywhere else.  It was hard because I knew the importance of being connected to the body of Christ.  No branch can grow on his own, it will wither and die so why was God not placing me anywhere.  I just could not understand it.  The penny dropped when I met with my Pastor who had come to the UK from Guyana.  After this meeting, the Lord connected us and I shared the vision with him.  My Pastor had revelation about it and asked to Pastor me.  After much prayer it was confirmed that God wanted him to be my mentor.

After I came into agreement with Pastor John the Lord spoke to me about setting up bible studies in my home again.  I knew this time it was going to be different.  I also had a witness in my spirit to start it up in two weeks’ time at the beginning of September 2006 and the confirmation came when the lady who introduced me to my Pastor phoned me and said to me that I had to start having bible studies at home and this time I will not stop.  I knew what she meant, this was to be the beginning of establishing my calling.  And this is what I did.  On the first night eleven people attended but out of the eleven two said they were to connect with me to be a part of it and then on the third meeting another lady connected to help with setting up the beginning of the vision.  Later we not only had bible studies which turned into a mini church service on a Sunday afternoon we then had a prayer needs group every Thursday afternoons where we would come together and pray for the different needs of those who attended, the community and those in need.

The Launch of the Ministry

The Church of United Nations was officially launched on 13th July 2008.  On that day the children had performed a short play.  The turnout was unexpected but the real work was after the launch of the Church where we had around fifteen members, although many would come and go.  We had our first concert that year where the young people performed and again we had an amazing turnout. We provided talent shows and conferences for the community amongst providing a discipleship course written by myself. This went on for the first six years until things began to change as the Church expanded.

The Name

The name ‘The Church of United Nations’ came from a word that I had from the Lord.  He gave me the words apostolic anointing, United Nations. I did not know what the word apostolic meant but I was to later find out.  Myself, and three other women prayed about what the ministry should be called.  We initially called it The Church of United Nations International Ministries, but this did not sit with us and so we re named it The Church of United Nations, 'bringing unity in Jesus through the meeting of needs'.  This was the name given when we launched the Church on July 13th 2008.

My Ordination

I was ordained in Guyana in May 2007 under Emmanuel Network Ministries.  My Pastor Ivan John of the Open Door Bible Way Church in Guyana recognised that God was doing a new thing and that if I was ordained under his ministry then I would have to be in alignment with them and do things the way they did therefore I was ordained under this body which is apostolic so that I could be free to do as God willed in the vision that he had given me.  It was a challenging time for me as I was a young Christian and felt intimidated by those who were in the Lord younger than me.  Many did not believe this could be possible.  Two scripture the Lord had given me.  One was from the book of 2 Timothy and the other from the book of Jeremiah 1.  All things are possible in God if you are willing to submit yourself to him.  Whilst in Guyana I preached at several Churches and went on live TV.  God's will must be done if you trust in Him and not man.

Whilst I was doing the children’s ministry in 2001, I could see in a vision a building.  The building appeared small on the outside and I wondered how the vision was going to fit into this if it was so big.  The building was just plain and I could not see any windows on the side of the wall that was facing me.  During that time I was told that the Buchan Street Neighbourhood Centre was going to be closed down.  I prayed that it would not be and even went to have a look at it with a friend.  I said a church could be set up here but thought nothing of it as at that time I did not comprehend that God was calling me to be the leader of anything.  I was always a follower and felt comfortable in that position. This is the building that we now use and it was not until around a few years later the Lord showed me that this is what I was seeing and that I had prayed for a church to be there.  I did not know it was going to be me that would be using it!

Since planting The Church of United Nations in 2008 we have recently had a re-birth (2018).  Sometimes we do what we think is best but it is not God's way.  We have therefore seeked the Lord earnestly as to what He really wants and since then we have seen what God has wanted to happen in a short space of time.

The Present

To date Pastor Fiona have now written several books and courses which we implement to teach change, restoration, healing and deliverance and to develop hidden skills and talents.  We also have programmes with guest speakers who are established in their field of work to assist.  We are not focused on building numbers but on building people.

Baptisms

Baptisms are performed by full immersion in water and in the name of Jesus.  Baptisms are free and are performed at our local swimming pool.

Funerals and Christening

Funerals and Christenings are also free to Church members but a donation of any size is welcomed to assist in the running of the Church.  Those who are not members will be charged to cover costs.  Any donations go into the Church.

Trustees

Pastor Fiona Lynch as Chair, Pastor Joanne James as Secretary and Minister Anita Davidson as Treasurer.

Funding

The aim is that the ministry will be self funded through various outlets such as book shops, food shops etc and fundraising.  In the meantime we rely on donations.

Gathering of the Saints

Every Sunday mornings for those who want to come together to worship God, hear the word for the week and fellowship through socialising after service.

Fishers of Men Discipleship School

Although we have regular bible study classes every Wednesday evening at the Buchan Street Neighbourhood Centre we have various courses and teaching programmes throughout the year.

Outreach

We have a woman's coffee morning the last Thursday of each month to assist in outreach to those who are isolated and our fellowship is not just designed for born again believers but for those who are disconnected from society.  We also do testimony outreach and home visits.  Our next step is to implement men's brunch and a cooking pantry to teach young people to cook.  We will also be setting up our children's gospel choir for those children who love to sing to participate in.

The Future

The vision is unfolding.  God can use anyone who is willing to be used by Him.

Isaiah 6:8  'Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"'
